Kamorta-class

Stable

The fully delivered four-ship class remains operationally active, with INS Kavaratti completing an Eastern Fleet port call at Singapore on 5 July 2026.

On 5 July 2026, INS Kavaratti concluded a three-day port call at Changi Naval Base with INS Udaygiri and INS Shakti, after calls at Sattahip on 29 June and Ho Chi Minh City on 24 June during an Eastern Fleet deployment to Southeast Asia. In 2025, Kavaratti exercised with Indonesia in Samudra Shakti and fired 17 indigenous Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rockets during successful user trials. Project 28 comprises four Indian-built stealth corvettes specialized for detecting and attacking submarines while operating helicopters and modern sensors. Their sustained eastern deployment gives India both submarine-hunting capacity and a visible naval presence across the Bay of Bengal, South China Sea and approaches to the Malacca Strait.
